We build the systems others depend on.

Jomena Group is a private engineering and advisory group with two divisions. Jomena Systems designs, builds and runs software, platforms and financial systems. Jomena Nuclear advises the owners of nuclear facilities on taking them apart.

Based in the Nordics. Working with companies across Europe, the Americas and beyond.

Jomena Systems

Every system recoverable, every balance explained.

Products, platforms and the infrastructure under them, for companies in any industry, from a first product to systems that move money across borders. Our deepest work is in payments, financial systems and applied AI.

Payments and financial systems

Systems that move money between banks, currencies and countries, and can account for every cent of it.

Discuss a payments project
  • Payments and cross-border settlement

Bank rails, instant payments, FX and multi-currency settlement between jurisdictions, ISO 20022 and open banking.

  • Ledgers, reconciliation and reporting

Double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, audit trails and the reports finance teams and regulators sign off on.

  • Trading, treasury and liquidity

Exchange connectivity, order routing, liquidity and treasury automation, from quote to settlement.

  • Digital assets and smart contracts

Stablecoins, tokenised assets, custody and bridges, with contracts that are tested, audited and accounted for.

  • Risk, compliance and security

KYC and AML flows, transaction monitoring, access control and data residency designed in from the start.

Products and platforms

New products and the platforms under them, from the first version to systems that run for years.

Discuss a product or platform
  • Products, apps and APIs

Web and mobile apps, internal tools, APIs, integrations and developer platforms, from the first version to production.

  • Systems and infrastructure

Distributed systems, cloud and self-hosted platforms, observability and recovery paths.

Applied AI and automation

Agents and automated loops that carry real work from start to finish, and check the result before it counts.

Discuss a process to automate
  • Agents in real operations

Agents and automated loops inside real operations, with results checked before they count.

  • One process at a time

Start with one process and grow at your own pace, with a person in the decision where the consequence is real.

Technical leadership

A senior technical voice on your board, beside your investors or inside your team.

Discuss a board or advisory role
  • Board and advisory

A technical voice on your board or advisory board, technical due diligence for investors, and interim technical leadership while a company scales.

  • An external technical team

Senior engineers who join your team, or a team of ours that owns a system end to end, working as your technical department for as long as you need one.

AI and automation

We build AI agents and automated loops that carry work from start to finish. They gather data, convert it, give it structure, run the task and check the result before it counts. The repetitive work moves off people's desks, and its errors go with it. A process that ran by hand becomes a defined system, at a scale that was not practical before.

We build them for voice, finance, software development, animation and more. A person still approves the payment or signs off the report, and a company can start with one process and grow at its own pace.

Platform

Our platform is cell-based infrastructure on our own servers. It runs serverless functions and can host anything from a single page like this one to a complex system. An application on it is made of many small cells, each a small, named piece of code with its own database. We built the layer that runs it across our machines.

  • One owner per cell

A request wakes a cell on the machine that owns it. Exactly one machine owns a cell at a time and claims it with a conditional write to shared storage. There is no consensus service, membership protocol or control plane in the serving path.

  • Replication and recovery

Each committed write is copied to one or two other machines and is durable once they hold it. It is then uploaded to shared object storage. If a machine is lost, another takes over its cells and restores them from the log and that storage.

  • Idle cells

An inactive cell costs almost nothing. Idle cells are evicted from memory, and the next request wakes them.

  • Everything an application needs

Code that runs when it is called, databases, file storage, queues, scheduled and multi-step jobs, and websites, all set up from one configuration file.

Jomena Nuclear

Every piece of a plant, measured and accounted for.

When a nuclear facility closes, it is taken apart over many years, one piece at a time. Every piece is measured, and the measurement decides where it goes: released for recycling, or packed and stored as radioactive waste.

We advise the owners of nuclear facilities and the teams that dismantle them, as advisers, as experts in the field on site, or within the project that runs the dismantling. Our work is radioactive waste, clearance and radiation protection, and the records and reports the regulator reviews.

How a plant is taken apart

  1. Plan

The decommissioning plan, the methods and an estimate of the waste each step will produce, agreed with the regulator before the work starts.

  2. Survey

Where the activity is, in which materials and how much. The survey decides how each part is cut, handled and measured.

  3. Dismantle

Systems and components are taken out and cut into pieces that can be measured and handled, with radiation protection for the people doing the work.

  4. Measure and sort

Each piece is measured. Material under the clearance levels is released and recycled; the rest is treated, packed and registered as radioactive waste.

  5. Release the site

A final survey shows that the buildings and the ground meet the release criteria, so the site can be released.

Where we help

  • Decommissioning planning

The sequence, the methods and the waste each step will produce, planned before the dismantling starts.

  • Radioactive waste management

Methods for characterising, sorting, treating and packaging waste, and the registration and reporting that go with it.

  • Clearance and recycling

Measurement and documentation for releasing material that meets the clearance levels, so more of a plant is recycled.

  • Radiation protection

Measurements, monitoring of radiation levels and dosimetry, and radiation safety support for the people doing the work.

  • The regulator

Contacts with the regulator, applications and reporting, kept consistent from the first plan to the final report.

  • An expert in the field

A specialist who joins your project on site, or leads its waste work, for as long as the project needs one.

Who we work with

The owners of nuclear power plants, research reactors and other nuclear facilities, the contractors that dismantle them, and the companies that treat and store radioactive waste.

Principles

Our two divisions look nothing alike. They are held to one standard.

  • Everything is accounted for.

Every balance can be explained, and every piece that leaves a plant has a record that can be followed to where it ends.

  • Recovery comes before scale.

Systems fail. We decide how they recover before we decide how they scale.

  • Measured, not assumed.

A decision rests on a measurement, a reconciliation or a test that passed, not on an estimate alone.

  • A person decides where it counts.

Automation takes the repetitive work, and a person approves where the consequence is real.

  • Safety from the first plan.

Radiation protection, security and compliance are part of the first plan, not added at the end.

  • Records others can read.

Fewer moving parts, proven foundations, and decisions and records that the next team, or the regulator, can read.

Contact

Whether it is a system that moves money or a plant being taken apart, if it is hard, we want to hear about it.

  1. Tell us what you are working on. A few lines are enough.
  2. We read every message ourselves and reply as fast as we can, usually within three working days.
  3. If it is urgent, say so in your message.
